Red 24 are the world's leading security specialists
specialising in corporate and personal security solutions.
HRG and Red 24 wanted to improve the design and responsiveness
of an application to globally track corporate travellers
and high net-worth individuals, that would provide:
- An interactive map view of traveller location
and status
- Management information on the traveller habits
and a new approach to viewing it
- Security alerts to allow for traveller safety
risk assessment
- Fast access to policies for traveller responses
and extraction in the event of emergency and crises
Review the current website content, its usability
and provide an improved interface.
- Phase I: Discovery
The first phase of the project involved a focus
group session to ensure internal stake-holder buy
in, to dissect the brief and gain a clear objective
of the deliverables.
- Phase II: Analysis
The web application's content was audited for the
existing functionality, documents, structure and
this was complimented with a user expert review
to identify key areas of improvement for the new
application. The Portal into which the site was
supposed to integrate underwent a review to identify
how the new solution could be assimilated. Competitor
and Gap Analysis helped to position the web application
against the few available alternatives.
- Phase III: Consolidation
Based on the requirements gathered in the focus
session and interviews a website development plan
was presented consisting of:
- Plans for the Rich
Interface as the ideal way to maximise screen
real estate and amalgamate the application within
the portal.
- New functionality
which was suggested based on the user expert
review to improve the user experience.
- A new sitemap which
was produced to reflect the revised functionality.
- Wireframing the revised
pages which produced paper-prototypes for review
in consultation with the stakeholders.
- The wireframes evolved
into screenshots.
- Phase IV: Review
The new design was reviewed and revised based on
focus group comments until the application fit the
brief. We produced a user experience document consisting
of the complete sitemap, screenshots and rationale
to assist the product, marketing and development
teams to identify the redesign decisions and effectively
pitch the product in their individual spheres.
